CHAPTER 19

Ice cream parlor

Amrita and Sneha were sitting in an ice cream parlor. Looking into Amrita’s eyes, laughing and teasing, Sneha asked, “Till where has your love game come?”

Feeling shy, Amrita said, “Now I go into dreams in his arms. Do you know how much I am enjoying?”

Shocked and excited, Sneha said, “Oho, that means you have gone very far ahead. You have crossed the border.”

Romantically, Amrita nodded her head excited. 

Pointing, seriously and warning Amrita, Sneha said, “If your dad comes to know, he will get very angry.”

Shocked and feeling nervous and with a bit of fear,                            Amrita said, “Really, you are making me very scared by reminding about my dad.”

Then she thought of her father who always fulfilled all her wishes. Softening her stand, Amrita said, “My father may be rash but he is also a very good person.”

Sneha tried to advice Amrita, “Eh. That is true but love is like glass. Don’t allow the glass to break due to your rashness. Just think about it.”

Amrita was shocked. “What do you mean?”

Again trying to advice Amrita, coolly, Sneha said, “First you take your father’s permission and then only go ahead with your lover. Make sure that your father agrees to your selection. Otherwise he will burn you.”

Refusing to agree, Amrita said carelessly, “Does the sun take permission from the sky to rise or does the moon take permission to shine? Love is also of the same type. We all mature to love. But I have not yet been able to understand Siddartha.”

Looking at Amrita helplessly, Sneha said seriously, “I pray to god that you will reap success in your love.”

Feeling scared, Amrita said, “Actually, I am not brave enough to ask him about his feelings. I will bring him in front of you some how or the other. Then you find out what is in his mind. Please.”

Sneha put her hand on Amrita’s back and gave her assurance. “Ok. Don’t worry.”

Amrita smiled happily.

Siddatha tells about his future plans

SISiddartha was sitting in a Hotel with his friend Arvind. Finishing the ice cream and looking at his watch, Arvind said, “It is already 6:30 and we have finished one round of ice cream. Still they have not come.”

Just then, Amrita arrived with Sneha on scooty. They entered the hotel.

Siddartha saw them enter and pointed to them. “At last they have come.”

 

Both the girls came and sat down near the boys.

Looking into Siddartha’s eyes and apologizing, Amrita said, “Sorry. Traffic problem. We are late by 10 minutes.”

Siddartha smiled and said, “No problem.”

Waiter came near and placed the menu in front of them. Pushing the menu in front of Amrita, Siddartha said, “You only choose which ice cream you want.”

Amrita told the waiter which ice cream she wanted. “4 cups vanilla.”

Waiter left. Pointing to Sneha, looking at Siddartha, Amrita said, “By the way, this is my close friend, Sneha.”

Siddartha and Sneha smiled at each other.

Putting her hand on Sneha, Amrita said, “Our minds are same and our hearts are same. What ever she says, just think I said it.”

Siddartha laughed and said, “So your mind and hearts are same. Only bodies are separate.”

Both girls nodded and laughed.

Looking at Sneha and giving a smile, Siddartha said, “Very good. My name is Siddartha.”

Excited, looking at Siddartha and smiling, Sneha said, “I know all about you. You are state champion in shooting. You are 4^th ranking in All India level and the future national champion.”

Shocked and then surprised and looking at Sneha excited, smiling, Siddartha said, “Thanks.”

Sneha was excited. “Since you are the state level champion, everyone knows you.”

She opened her vanity bag and placed the autograph book in front of Siddartha. Pointing to it, Sneha said, “I have even brought my autograph book. Please sign it for me.”

Happily, Siddartha took the autograph book and signed it. Amrita was watching all this. 

Ice cream arrived. Eating it, Sneha said, “Mr. Champion, can I ask you one thing?”

Smiling with surprised, Siddartha said, “Ask anything. No problem.”

Hearing this, Amrita was excited and looked at both a bit shyly. Pointing to Amrita and looking at Siddartha, Sneha said, “What do you think about our Amrita?”

Looking at Amrita in surprise, Siddartha said, “If you will not mind, I will tell you one thing.”

Amrita was shocked and wondered what he was going to say. Pointing to Amrita, Siddartha said, “She is not like other students. She is very different. If the class is to start at 6, she comes and waits at 5 itself. If the class got over at 7, she packs up only at 8.”

All laughed loudly.

Pointing to Amrita, Siddartha said, “Yet she is the worst student in studies. But ….”

All were shocked and waited for him to continue.

Looking at Amrita, Siddartha said, “She is my close friend. She got attached to me so soon.”

Amrita looked at Siddartha with love. All started eating ice cream. Putting a spoon of ice cream in her mouth, Sneha said, “What about your future plans?”

Amrita looked at Siddartha waiting for him to speak.

Confidently, Siddartha said, “To become the national champion.”

Excited, Sneha asked, “Then?”

With strong determination, Siddartha said, “My main goal is to become a commando like Amrita’s father. I have already applied for the commando job. Written exam is over. Next I have to attend the oral exam.”

All were watching him seriously. Shocked, looking at Siddartha, Amrita said, “You have selected a very risky job.”

Strongly and confidently showing thumbs up signal, Siddartha said, “I am taking it a challenge. I will tell you some other time why I have selected it.”

All put another spoon of ice cream in their mouth.

Eating ice cream, seriously, Sneha said, “What about your views on love and marriage?”

Amrita listened with interest. Looking into Amrita’s eyes, with love,                      Siddartha said, “First I must become the national champion and secondly I must become a commando.”

All listened with interest especially Amrita.

Looking at Amrita, with love, Siddartha said, “And then I must marry the girl I like.”

Amrita’s body became romantic. She put a spoon of ice cream in her mouth and closed her eyes. Sneha observed this. Siddartha too observed this.

Siddartha’s cell rang. Looking at the message, he got up. “Our academy chief has sent an SMS. I have to go urgently. Please continue enjoying the ice cream.”

Siddartha paid the bill and left with Arvind on motorbike. The girls kept looking at the boys as they left.

Looking at Sneha, disappointed, Amrita said, “He did not open any secrets.”

Seriously looking at Amrita, Sneha said, “He told his future plans, didn’t he? He wants to first become the champion and then a commando.”

Amrita nodded seriously. Putting her hand on Amrita’s hand, with love,                 Sneha said, “And then looking into your eyes, he said that he will marry the girl he likes.”

Amrita nodded but she was not satisfied. “Not like that. He never said whether he loves me or not. That question mark still remains.”

Laughing, putting her hand on her shoulder, confidently,                               Sneha said, “You have brought him to the level of butter. When he looked into yours eyes I understood everything.”

Amrita nodded. Pressing Amrita’s hand, Sneha said in her ear, “If you apply a bit of heat, the butter will melt. Keep giving him the love touch. He will definitely open out.”

Amrita was excited and hugged Sneha.
