CHAPTER 52
Ranjit tries for
his daughter
Ranjit’s car entered the shooting academy
gates. Rana saw the car from his office. He looked at the clock. It was exactly
5:30.
Rana thought, “He is so punctual.”
As Ranjit and Amrita entered the office, Rana got up and shook hands with
Ranjit. Rana said, “Please sit down. Sit down, Amrita.”
Father and daughter sat down in front of Rana. Ranjit said, “I have come
to you for a special reason. I need your help.”
Rana was surprised. “What help can I be of, sir? Please tell me.”
Smiling, with a new energy, Ranjit said, “I have come to talk about your
favorite student Siddartha.”
Rana was shocked and disturbed. “Has he created any problem again? I had
warned him that day itself that he should not disturb your daughter.”
Coolly, pointing to Amrita, Ranjit said, “Not that. My daughter likes him
very much.”
Disturbed and sad, Ranjit said, “But my rashness has taken him far away.”
Amrita listened silently.
Requesting, Ranjit said, “I made a mistake in hitting him that day due to
my anger. I am ready to ask him to excuse me today.”
Coolly, Rana said, “Sir, you are a big person. It is not wrong to hit
when he did committed a mistake.”
With a new spirit, coolly, Ranjit requested, “He risked his life to save
my daughter’s life. That is why I am so grateful to him. That time and whenever
I met him again, I have asked him to forgive me.”
Rana looked at Ranjit shocked.
Ranjit continued and said, “But he never forgave me, sir.”
Rana said calmly, “He is a young boy. He has taken that incident as a big
thing. I will advice him.”
Ranjit calmed down. He said in a relaxed mood, “Not only that, sir. I
want to give my daughter’s hand to him. She likes him very much, that’s why.”
Rana was shocked and became desperate. “Sir, you have missed the time.
The matter has slipped from our hands. He likes my student Reshmi. Tomorrow we
are going to fix the time for marriage.”
Ranjit was shocked and became desperate. He was unable to speak. He looked
at Reshmi’s face.
Reshmi was also shocked. But she brought a smile to her face forcefully
and said to Rana, “Please give my best wishes to them, sir.”
She had tears in her eyes. Looking at her father and getting up, she
said, “Dad, let us go.”
Ranjit got up with no energy. He felt he had lost everything. Rana got up and lifted both his hands up.
Sadly, he said, “Ok. I am helpless.”
Father and daughter left slowly and sadly.
