46. Trophy function

CHAPTER 46

Trophy function

Ranjit was the chief guest in the trophy function. All were sitting in the function hall. 

 

There was an announcement. “Champion Siddartha, please come on the stage to receive the trophy from Commando Ranjit.”

Siddartha stood up from audience. All clapped. Siddartha was moving towards the stage in style. Amrita was getting excited. Reshmi was also watching excited. Sneha was clapping happily. Ranjit was watching as if his own son-in-law was coming.

Ranjit gave the trophy to Siddartha. Siddartha took the trophy. Ranjit extended his hand to give shake hand.

Siddartha refused and said softly in Ranjit’s ear, “Sorry, I have not yet become a person big enough to give you shake hand.”

Ranjit felt very bad. He requested, “Siddartha, please forget the past. You are still in my commando list.”

Looking at Ranjit seriously, Siddartha said, “Sorry, I have already decided that I will become a commando only after you have retired. Bye.”

Siddartha got down from stage. People surrounded him for his autograph. Siddartha started signing autograph books. After that Rana took him to his car. Siddartha sat inside the car with Rana and the car moved towards the shooting academy. 

                                

Reshmi looked at Amrita and said, “He became the champion and took the trophy, but you never introduced me to him.”

Apologizing, Amrita said, “I am sorry. But he was so busy. Come let us follow his car.”

Rana’s car entered the academy gates. Rana and Siddartha got down and went to Rana’s office. Siddartha gave the trophy to Rana and said, “Sir, this trophy belongs to you.”

Rana took it happily.

Keeping the trophy in the cupboard, Rana said, “This not the goal. Next you must become the international champion.”

Siddartha said happily, “If I have your blessings, it is enough, sir.”

Suddenly they heard the sound of car. They saw Amrita’s car enter the compound.

Looking outside the window, Rana said, “Looks at if they followed us.”

Siddartha was excited.

Sneha, Amrita and Reshmi came in with bouquets. Sneha gave the bouquet to Siddartha.

While Siddartha was taking bouquet, Sneha said, “For the national champion.”

Giving bouquet, looking into his eyes, Amrita said, “This bouquet is for the future international champion in advance.”

Siddartha took the bouquet and winked.

Looking at him with love, Amrita thought, “For my would-be.”

Happily, Siddartha said, “Many many thanks.”

Pointing to Reshmi, who was standing with bouquet, Amrita said, “By the way, this is Reshmi. My ground friend, the gymnastic champion.”

Reshmi gave the bouquet to Siddartha.

With excitement, Siddartha said, “Thank you very much.”

Reshmi smiled and said, “I am from Hyderabad. I am lucky to have a champion like you as a friend.”

Amrita laughed. “If you are no.1 in shooting, this Reshmi is no.1 in gymnastic.”

Giving Reshmi a smile, Siddartha said, “Amrita has told me all about you. I like gymnastic very much.”

Pointing to Amrita, looking at Reshmi, Siddartha said, “I wanted to meet you the very next day but Amrita did not give me the chance.”

Reshmi became romantic. Looking into Siddartha’s eyes, Reshmi said, “Really? I am so lucky.”

Looking at Reshmi, going into dreams, Siddartha thought, “Really? I am so lucky.”

Looking at Reshmi, Siddartha said, “Reshmi madam, will you teach me gymnastics?”

Excited, looking into his eyes, Reshmi said, “Why not? I am lucky to be teaching a champion like you. Come to the ground in the morning.”

Smiling, Siddartha said, “Ok I will come to the ground tomorrow morning at 7am.”

Smiling, with interest, Reshmi said, “I love shooting. Will you teach me?”

Smiling, looking into her eyes, Siddartha said, “Morning you are my coach, evening I am your coach.”

Seeing these two forget everything and talking to each other so happily made Amrita disappointed and shocked.

Amrtia thought, “These two have become close friends so fast.”
