CHAPTER 6
Reshmi is not in the house
Siddartha got down from his
bike outside Reshmi’s house and entered the house. He went into the hall. It
was empty. He peeped in the kitchen. It was empty. He looked all around. It was
silent. Then he went and stood outside Reshmi’s bedroom listening intently to
hear some sound from inside. But there was no sound.
Siddartha thought, “I wonder whether she has worn the sari or is
she waiting for me to put it on her?”
He started dreaming. “Tomorrow anyway I will get license. I can put
sari on her and also remove it.”
Slowly he opened the bedroom door and peeped
inside. But there was nobody inside the room. “Maybe she is in the bathroom.”
He went near the bathroom and put his ear to the
door. He could not hear any sound of water. He called out, “Reshmi.”
No sound. He opened the door and looked inside.
It was empty.
Siddartha was becoming worried.
He went out and looked around in the compound. Nobody was around. Siddartha was
confused and disturbed.
“I wonder where she is.” He went towards the front door
and entered the house again feeling worried.
