CHAPTER 61
Siddartha is happy
Siddartha came out of the hospital and went
towards his bike. He thought, “By god’s grace he is dead. Reshmi is now safe.”
He started the bike.
Siddartha reached home and put on the TV. The same news came on TV. The
school ground, Ranjit falling down and so on. Siddartha took out his cell and
phoned to Madani.
Madani was sitting with Bilal in TV room watching TV with all others.
Happily, Madani said on phone, “You have done a good job. You have kept your
word. We are watching TV.”
Hearing this, Reshmi thought, “To save me you have killed such a great
commando like Ranjit.”
Siddartha said seriously, “Now you
keep your word. Your job is done. Release Reshmi.”
Madani laughed. “True. We will keep our word. We promised to give you 10
lakhs if that Ranjit’s dead body falls. The money is ready. If you tell us
where to put it, we will put it there.”
Siddartha became angry. He said on phone, “I don’t want your money. I
killed Ranjit for Reshmi’s sake. Release Reshmi immediately. Tell me where you
are. I will come there.”
Madani looked at Bilal. “Bhiyya, what shall we do?”
Bilal took the phone. “You have done a good job. Shabash. But your job is
not yet completed.”
Siddartha was shocked and angry. “What you are doing is wrong. You told
me that if I finish off Ranjit, you will release Reshmi.”
Bilal said seriously, “For having killed Ranjit, your 10 lakhs is ready.
But if you want Reshmi, you have to do another job.”
Siddartha said sadly, “I will not do any more jobs for you. Release
Reshmi immediately. Tomorrow morning is our marriage.”
Bilal laughed. “If you want to marry Reshmi at that auspicious time, then
you have to complete the job I will give you.”
Siddartha asked seriously, “Otherwise?”
Bilal said seriously, “Otherwise, I will give information to the police
that you killed Ranjit. Instead of getting married, you will be in jail.”
Siddartha was shocked and tense. “Are you now blackmailing me?”
Bilal said seriously, “We are ready to do anything to get our job done.
If you do our job, we will give you Reshmi in addition to the 10 lakhs. You can
marry her in a grand way. What do you say?”
Siddartha was shocked. He put his hand on his head in tension. “This is wrong. You are not
keeping your word.”
Bilal got up and went to Reshmi. He said on phone, “I am giving you 10
minutes time. If you do not come to a decision by that time, this Reshmi’s body
will be hanging to the tree in the outskirts of this city. Before you can take
it, we will give information to the police about the murder you committed. You
will have to rot in jail.” He cut off the phone.
Siddartha tried to contact Bilal but he had switched off the phone.
Siddartha sat with his hand on his head. He shook his head and started
walking from one end of the room to the other in tension. Then he again stood
with his hand on his head.
